Do you want to grow in your faith in 2024? You can, because “faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” God promises that if you hear his word, you will grow in faith (understanding and assent of truth, and trust in the Truthful One). We could say a lot more. But that part is simple.

And, whatever your situation, we can all agree that it’s tough to read the Bible consistently all alone…which is why we are going to do it together. We invite you to join us as we give it our best shot at reading through the Bible in 2024!

Here’s how we can do it:

The Reading Plan

We think a simple reading plan with support from groups and from technology will be the best. We have decided to use The One Year Bible reading plan, which is published in many versions of the Bible here and available at other retailers. These Bibles have the daily readings already in order - just turn to the date and read a portion of the Old Testament, New Testament, pray a portion from the Psalms, and take a Proverb with you as you go. We would be happy to buy (or order) a Bible for you if you’d like to join us here. Let us know if you would like us to get a Bible for you (if you haven’t already let us know). Of course you can use any Bible and follow the plan (see below for the plan).

Group Encouragement: Choose what will work for you

  1. We will meet most Sundays after the worship service at church. This will not be a lecture, but it will be a time for us to share what was interesting, confusing, challenging, encouraging, and so on. We guarantee that this will change your life!

  2. Join The One Year Bible at St. Paul’s Facebook group

  3. Find some other friends and encourage them to join you!

    Get set up for success

    1. Get a special Bible with the readings all set up by the date (see above). Let us know here if you would like us to get this Bible for you - on the house, or you can pitch in if you’d like at a discounted rate. If you would like a different version for yourself, start here and shop around. (Make sure they are published by Tyndale so it is the same schedule; also not the chronological plan). OR, use your own Bible and get the reading plan here or here.

    2. Listen to Pastor Zech’s daily readings on the Jesus in the Center One Year Bible podcast (also on Spotify) or you can also go here (bottom of the page) or here.

    3. Pull up the plan on your phone on the YouVersion Bible App. In the “plans” button, search “The One Year Bible.”

    4. Pray!! This should be #1. Unless the Lord builds the house, we who try to build the house labor in vain. Pray that the Lord would help us all. All prayers are good in that regard - there are many in Scripture. Here is one very old prayer of the church: “Blessed Lord, you have caused all Holy Scripture to be written for our learning; grant that we may so hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that by patience and comfort of Your holy Word, we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen!”
